Sugary drinks and fruit juice
Sodas, energy drinks, sweetened iced tea, syrups and even fruit juice deliver lots of liquid sugar, which is not very filling. A large glass of soda often contains the equivalent of 6 to 8 sugar cubes.
What to do
- Swap for water, sparkling water, unsweetened tea or coffee.
- Limit juice to a small glass and prefer whole fruit, which contains fibre.
- Beware of using "light" versions as an excuse to compensate elsewhere.
